Cute Ways to Pamper Your Cat on National Cat Day

Did you know that October 29th is National Cat Day? If you were to ask Fluffy, she would no doubt insist that every day is National Cat Day. She really wouldn’t be wrong, either: kitties do deserve to be loved and pampered every day. That said, this is a great time to show your feline friend some extra TLC. Read on as a Lafayette, LA veterinarian lists some great ideas for things to do for your cat on her special day.

Treats

Indulge your furball with a can of plain tuna in water; some cat milk; or plain, cooked chicken, fish, or meat without the skin or bones. Guaranteed purrs!

Toys

Pick up a new toy for your kitty, and take some time to play with her. This will be great fun for both of you!

Apps

Look online for some cute apps made just for kitties to play with, and try a few to see which ones Fluffy likes. (Results may vary.)

Beauty Session

Wait until Fluffy is feeling relaxed and sleepy, and spend a few minutes gently brushing her. This will get the dead hair out of your kitty’s coat, and leave her looking soft and shiny.

Photos

Get some cute shots of your furball just being her adorable self. If Fluffy has a talent for looking away just before you snap her picture, use a squeaky toy to get her attention.

Beds

As far as cats are concerned, there’s just no such thing as too many beds! Pick up another bed for your sleepy furball at a local store, or make one out of a pillow or blanket.

DIY Cat Furniture

Cats really benefit from having some things of their own. You don’t have to break the bank buying kitty furniture, though. Turn an old stepladder or storage rack into a cat tower, or upcycle an end table with doors into a kitty bed. Look online for more great ideas.

Box Castle

Many of our feline friends absolutely love boxes. Why not make Fluffy her own box castle? Her Furry Majesty will certainly be pleased!

Kitty Garden

Turn a patio, sunroom, or bright corner into a little kitty garden for Fluffy. You’ll find some great pet-safe plants at the ASPCA website.
