Dr. Drew is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Iowa State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. He opened his first veterinary practice, Home Veterinary Services, in downtown Lafayette in 1993. Dr. Drew owned and operated the clinic until his office could no longer accommodate his clients and business. The wonderful small city of Youngsville beckoned, and, in January of 2009, Village Veterinary Center opened its doors to serve the pets and people of Youngsville and surrounding areas.
Dr. Drew enjoys fixing things, whether it’s an outboard motor, an old radio, or a Cocker Spaniel. As a veterinarian, he enjoys the detective work of diagnostics and has a special fondness for ultrasonography. Most of all, he enjoys the relationships he gets to build with clients; he considers many of them his personal friends!
In August of 2000, Dr. Drew was able to intertwine his Cajun heritage with his passion for fixing things when he purchased an original Acadian home that was more than 200 years old. He disassembled the house, moved it to a section of undeveloped land on the edge of a small Cypress swamp, and has spent the last 14 years restoring his home. Dr. Drew is also an avid musician, and began playing the guitar over 40 years ago. Currently, he plays in an all-veterinarian band called The Sinus Rhythms!
